A successful project starts long before construction.
Building or remodeling your home is a significant investment. The more prepared you are before construction begins, the smoother the process tends to be.
Before reaching out, take a few minutes to make sure your project is ready for the next step.
You don’t need every detail figured out, but you should have a clear vision for the project.
Consider:
What are you building or remodeling?
What are the most important features or improvements?
Approximately how large is the project?
What does the finished project need to accomplish?
If you’re still exploring possibilities or aren’t sure what you want to build, starting with an architect or designer may be the right first step.
Every project is different. Size, site conditions, structural requirements, materials, finishes, and design decisions can all affect the final cost.
Before requesting a construction proposal, you should have a realistic budget range in mind.
We’re happy to discuss what may be possible within your budget, but a construction proposal is most useful when you’re seriously considering moving forward.
A good question to ask yourself:
If the project makes sense and the numbers are within my expected range, am I prepared to move forward?
If the answer is yes, you’re ready for the next conversation.
Your property can have a major impact on the project.
If applicable, gather any information you have regarding:
Property boundaries or surveys
Existing plans or drawings
Zoning and setbacks
HOA requirements
Utilities
Site access
Existing structures
Previous inspections or reports
Permits or approvals already obtained
You don’t need to have everything in hand before contacting us. The goal is simply to understand what you’re working with.
You don’t need an exact construction date, but it helps to know where you are in the process.
You’re looking to begin construction within the next few months.
You’re targeting construction within the next 6–12 months and are getting the necessary pieces in place now.
You’re considering a project more than a year away or are still deciding what you want to build.
There’s nothing wrong with planning ahead. However, if your project is still several years away, a construction consultation may be premature.
Construction involves a lot of decisions.
Throughout the process, you’ll need to make choices about scope, materials, finishes, budget, scheduling, and other details.
You don’t need to know all the answers today. You should, however, be prepared to participate in the process and make decisions as the project develops.
Good communication and timely decisions help keep a project moving.
You have a property or are actively acquiring one
You have a reasonably clear idea of what you want to build
You have a realistic budget range
You have a general timeline
You’re prepared to make decisions
You’re seriously considering moving forward with the project
If several of these aren’t in place yet, that’s okay.
It may simply mean that now is the time to plan—not build.
